SUMMARY:Speaker: Jon Saltinstall - Racing career of Niki Lauda
DESCRIPTION:The BMRC Speaker for 13 October will be the author Jon Saltinstall who will be talking about the entire Competition history of the great Niki Lauda. \nJon’s presentation will cover the earliest days of Niki’s career in motorsport driving Minis and Formula Vee\, Formula 3 and Formula 2 before graduating to Grand Prix racing with March in 1971. With little success at March\, Niki took out loans to make the move to BRM in 1973. Whilst driving for BRM his talent was spotted by the Ferrari team at Maranello.  It was here\, with the Italian team\, that he finally fulfilled his ambition\, winning two World Championships in 1975 and 1977. \nAfter some altercations at Ferrari\, Niki spent a season with Brabham before he retired in 1979. A substantial salary package offered by McLaren tempted Niki back to GP Racing in 1984 and the following year he secured his third World Championship title. \nThis is sure to be a very special evening celebrating one of the greatest drivers in Grand Prix motor racing history.
