The flagship event returns to the famous Worcestershire hillclimb on 22-23 July and will feature great cars from across motorsport history including fabulous celebrations of the British Touring Car Championship, the Mini Cooper S and many other British legends!
This year marks the 12th running of Classic Nostalgia, which features a spectacular blend of exciting action both on and off the hill, plus demonstration runs, the popular Classic & Sports Car Concours d’Elegance, quality trade stands and non-stop live entertainment
Celebrating 65 years of the British Touring Car Championship
One of the themes celebrated at this years Classic Nostalgia will be the 65th anniversary of the British Touring Car Championship. Established in 1958 as the British Saloon Car Championship, it is one of the most popular racing series in the world and has featured countless great names who have had international success, from Jack Sears and Jim Clark all the way up to more recent stars such as Alain Menu and Jason Plato.
Entries confirmed include the 1978 Beaconsfield Toyota Celica, which will be reunited with Mike Wilds. The Celica raced for three years in the BSCC in the hands of Wilds (1978), Alec Poole (1979) and future Formula 1 star and Le Mans winner Martin Brundle (1980). It remains in highly original condition, even down to the hand-painted HOB livery.
It will be joined by the recently restored Escort RS1600 that was formerly owned by Ford but built and run by Broadspeed in 1971 for John Fitzpatrick. Fitz had a very successful season with the car and took several outright wins. The vehicle will make its Shelsley debut and will be reunited with Fitz.
Classic Nostalgia will also welcome a Group A Ford Escort Mk3 RS1600i that was driven by Barry Lee in the 1984 and 1985 British Saloon Car Championship. The Escort has been restored with great care to its original condition and features full Total Oils livery, as raced in a support event for the 1984 British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch.
Other notable anniversaries that will be honoured at Classic Nostalgia include 90 years of ERA the famous voiturette single-seaters that enjoyed so much success at Shelsley Walsh plus 60 years of McLaren and 60 years of the giant-killing Mini Cooper S. It promises to be another unmissable celebration of motorsport history.
Mighty Minis take to the hill in special Cooper S tribute
Gregor Marshall son of tin-top legend Gerry will be taking part in a special anniversary to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Mini Cooper S. Gregor will take to the hill in the Austin Cooper S that won its class in the 1965 Snetterton 500km, alongside European Touring Car Championship racer Warwick Banks. The Mini will be joined by the oldest surviving Austin Cooper S 732 HOP, the second Cooper S to roll off the production line in Birmingham.
